Summary:
The National Center for Health Statistics reports approximately 71.6% of adults over age 20 are overweight or obese. Studies show that approximately 40-50% of adults are taking multiple drugs and have multiple chronic illnesses. Managing these types of patients and the prevention of medical emergencies is more important than ever. This course is targeted towards dental health providers who endeavor to provide safe and comfortable dental experiences for patients who have chronic and/or uncontrolled illnesses such as cardiac disease and diabetes.
Course Objectives: 
  • To identify specific strategies to prevent medical emergencies related to chronic illnesses.
  • To manage the link between oral-systemic health conditions in adults with complex medical conditions.
  • To identify clinical treatment options associated with common oral health disease in adults with complex medical conditions.
